Fort Walton Beach, Okaloosa Island, Destin make it through Hurricane Ida with little damage

November 16th, 2009

As the nation watched and prepared for the worst this past Monday, November 9th, Fort Walton Beach, Okaloosa Island, Destin and the surrounding Emerald Coast area were gratefully spared by Hurricane Ida. What started as a category 1-2 hurricane depreciated into a tropical storm by the time it hit the coast and inflicted only minimal damage to the surrounding community, condominiums, and hotels.

The Breakers Condominiums made it through with virtually no damage and was open throughout the hurricane. Escape the snow this holiday season and enjoy sunny days on our white sandy beaches. Give us a call or visit our reservations page online to reserve your room today!

The Breakers Condominiums - Hurricane Season update - Fort Walton Beach/Destin/Emerald Coast

August 26th, 2009

Tropical Storm Daniel

Time for a weather update!  As many have heard, Tropical Storm Danny is heading its way to the states though similar to Hurricane Bill it will most likely miss.  It is HIGHLY unlikely that The Breakers Condominiums will be affected by Tropical Storm Danny.  We will keep you updated if the storm decides to head to our beaches.

Planning Your Vacation

As of right now, the greater Fort Walton Beach, Destin, Navarre, and surrounding Emerald Coast area will have a 30% - 40% chance of showers through this weekend (Thursday, Aug 27th - Monday, Aug. 31st).  But, it will be warm (86 degrees) and sunny so come on out!

And again you can track Danny’s path here:  http://www.stormpulse.com/

Hurricane Season has arrived at The Breakers Condominiums

August 18th, 2009

Here at The Breakers Condominiums in Fort Walton Beach, Florida you can experience vacation on the beautiful white sandy beaches of Okaloosa Island.  But, you can also experience the raw power of one of the gulf’s seasonal hurricanes.  We want to make certain that whenever you will be staying with us and for however long that you will have the best experience possible.  Now that we have officially entered Hurricane season with the arrival of “Bill”, we will inform you when these threatening storms may be entering the area.  Unfortunately, the media can offer misleading information and exaggerate the effect and arrival of these storms, we will provide clarity to these reports in order to best serve you.

Hurricane Bill / Tropical Depressions

According to the latest reports, Hurricane Bill is on its way to the east coast and possibly will miss the states entirely.  It is HIGHLY unlikely that The Breakers Condominiums will be affected by Hurricane Bill.  This leaves only tropical depression Ana to pass through which possesses little threat to our beaches.

Beautiful Okaloosa Island

May 20th, 2009

Beautiful Okaloosa Island…The most repeated phrase heard on the coast. Okaloosa Island is part of a small fortunate group to be labeled as one of the best beaches in the world. And you wouldn’t guess that this beauty is so accessible. You simply won’t believe until you see it. Then you’ll confirm your beliefs when you touch it; run your hands and feet through the warm, sugar-white, sandy beaches; splash in the emerald green water; lay a blanket near the surf and feel the healing rays and warm breeze blowing a fresh, healthy, salty spray.

But don’t stop there. Experience Beautiful Okaloosa Island with the many activities offered here: Take surfing lessons and cruise into the beach from the waves. Pontoon boats, wave runners and parasailing allow a view of the beautiful island from the vastness of the Gulf. Whether you’re shell hunting or bronzing in the sun, building sand castles or photographing the beauty, this is an escape you’ll return to over and over again. Once you view the newly restored sand dunes with the sea oats swaying in the breeze, you’ll know you’ve arrived at one of the most beautiful locations on earth.

Don’t be surprised if you come upon a wedding party near the water’s edge. This area is known for being the scene of many romantic, remote wedding sites. With the gorgeous Gulf backdrop and the bride and groom shuffling barefoot through the pure white sand and the sun glistening off the water, it is beauty beyond belief and creates the best wedding memories possible. Gazebo’s, archways, pavilions and caterers are all available to create the wedding of your dreams. The Breakers Condominiums will of course be able to provide first class Gulf front luxury accommodations for the wedding party and guests coming into town.

At the end of the day take a stroll on the Island’s picturesque pier and boardwalk featuring nightly entertainment, an abundance of restaurants and shops, and some of the most incredible sunsets ever seen. Or relax on one of the many cruises offered and view the beautiful sunsets from the vastness of the Gulf of Mexico.

Away from the beautiful beaches, enjoy one of the many other breath-taking surrounding features. Take a drive and you will soon be surrounded by stunning moss-draped oak trees, statuesque palm trees and ornamental gardens. For the fisherman in your group, take part in the fabulous deep sea, shark or bay fishing, snappers, groupers, speckled trout and red fish. Both private charters and group charters are available.

Kayaking adventures are offered for beginners or experienced paddlers. Snorkeling instruction is also popular. One of the favorite pastimes for young and old alike is cruising the waterways in search of the fun-loving and fascinating dolphins. The dolphins come in so close to shore that this activity is often experienced right from the beach. Schools, or pods, of dolphins sweep back and forth across the Gulf parallel with the shore. They’re often seen in superpods, groupings of hundreds of dolphins or more traveling together. The dolphins certainly add a surprise of beauty and awe to any vacation day. They’re playful by nature and will often leap above the water surface. As incredibly social creatures, they will also interact playfully with boats and human swimmers.

On the great, beautiful Emerald Coast, you can be assured that each time you return you will encounter the same lovely beaches. This is because more than 60 percent of the beaches are protected by law and the national park areas will remain undeveloped forever. You can always find a stretch of beach to experience in solitude. This, along with the unbelievable, unparalleled beauty of the Panhandle, is what distinguishes us from the rest of the Gulf Coast.
